Site Audit

The Site Audit (also called GEO Audit) is a comprehensive technical analysis of your website's readiness for AI search. It crawls your pages and evaluates them across six categories that directly impact whether AI models can discover, understand, and cite your content.

Why Site Audits Matter

AI systems don't just read your content — they evaluate its structure, credibility, and accessibility. A site with clean markup, fast performance, proper schema, and strong E-E-A-T signals is more likely to be cited in AI-generated answers than one with technical issues, even if the content itself is excellent. The Site Audit surfaces exactly which technical factors are helping or hurting your AI visibility.

Running an Audit

Navigate to Playbook > Site Audit and click Run Audit. The audit crawls multiple pages on your site and evaluates each one against a set of AI-readiness checks. A progress indicator shows the crawl status while it runs. Audit limits vary by plan — Pro plans include 3 audits per month, Elite includes 5, and Agency plans include 10. Max pages per crawl also scales by tier: 100 for Pro, 250 for Elite, and 500 for Agency.

Audit Categories

AI Accessibility

Checks whether AI crawlers can reach your content. This includes robots.txt configuration, llms.txt presence, and whether major AI user agents (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, Perplexity) are allowed or blocked.

Content Structure

Evaluates your HTML structure for AI readability — proper heading hierarchy, semantic sections, clear paragraph structure, and content organization that makes it easy for AI models to extract and cite specific information.

Structured Data

Checks for Schema.org markup that helps AI models understand what your brand is and what your pages are about. Looks for Organization, Product, Article, FAQ, and other schema types that improve entity recognition.

Technical SEO

Reviews foundational technical factors including indexing directives, canonical tags, meta robots, internal linking, and other configuration that affects how thoroughly AI systems can crawl and understand your site.

Performance

Measures page speed and Core Web Vitals — factors that affect crawl priority and user experience. Slow sites may be deprioritized by AI crawlers, and performance issues can signal lower quality to AI systems.

E-E-A-T Signals

Checks for signals of Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness — author information, about pages, contact details, trust badges, and other indicators that AI models use to evaluate source credibility.

Understanding Results

Each audit produces an overall grade (A through F) based on a score out of 100. Individual checks within each category show a status of Pass (green), Warning (yellow), or Fail (red) along with the number of pages affected. Click into any check to see specific URLs with issues and detailed recommendations for fixing them.

CMS-Specific Recommendations

The Site Audit detects your CMS platform — WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, and others — and tailors its fix recommendations accordingly. Instead of generic advice, you get platform-specific instructions for resolving each issue in your actual site builder.

Developer Brief Export

Click Export Developer Brief to download a text file with all audit findings prioritized by impact. This is designed to hand directly to your development team or agency — it includes the issue description, affected pages, and step-by-step fix instructions, all organized by priority.

Access Requirements

Site Audit is available on Pro, Elite, and Agency plans. The monthly audit limit and max pages per crawl vary by tier.
